If you didn’t follow the NAILS blog during the International Salon and Spa Expo (ISSE) in Long Beach, Calif. a few weeks ago, you might have missed the updates about KUPA’s new portable electric drill, ibd’s new gel polish kits, or a new acrylic collection from INM.
ISSE 2011 took place January 29-31 in the Long Beach Convention Center and was packed with 40,000 nail techs, hair stylists, educators, and manufacturers. Companies big and small promoted their new products while attendees benefited from the sales and show specials.
CND launched 12 new Shellac soak-off gel polish colors and demonstrated ways to layer the colors to create a unique style for each client. Pictured above, CND educator Mary Chhea paired Shellac’s Black Cool (on the right nail) with Iced Coral over the black.
Minx also promoted it’s own layering technique. Some of the more transparent designs can be layered on top of solid colors like this Oil Slick design, on top, over one row of the new Minxlusion base coat design.
Odyssey Nail Systems launched a new and convenient gel tray. Odyssey’s The One Colored Gel Art comes in eight colors. Pop the lid and easily switch between gel colors. This would seem to be great for use in gel nail art competitions and in the fully-booked salon when each second counts.
Odyssey also has new The One sculpting design acrylic and gel brushes with interchangeable heads.
Orly displayed the new Precious polish collection with colors (from left to right) Sapphire Silk, Gilded Coral, Fancy Fuchsia, Ancient Jade, Pure Porcelain, and Royal Velvet. They also offered mani minis, polish bottles with the same colors but a fraction of the size.
LeChat had new Perfect Match Gel Soak-Off Formula colors (left) that perfectly match their Dare to Wear Nail Lacquer counterparts (right). Each Dare to Wear Lacquer comes free with the purchase of its corresponding Perfect Match soak-off gel.
