From September 8th to October 6th, Chicago-based artist Dzine (pronounced "design") partnered with
Subliminal Projects art gallery to showcase nail art in an art exhibition held in Los Angeles. Nailed, the name of the exhibition, showcased nail art in museum-worthy artistic fashion, with framed nail art professionally photographed and nail tip masterpieces housed in glass.
12 nail artists, local and international, contributed to the exhibit. During the gallery's opening night reception, NAILS managing editor Sree Roy had the chance to chat with Dzine. “When it comes to nail culture, Los Angeles is a special dynamic just because of the diasporas you have here,” Dzine says.
These are long finger rings that were made by Dzine. They are also featured in a couple of photos
in his nail art book as well as in a photo within his part of the nail art exhibit.
As nail art continues to evolve, so will the ways in which it is displayed and presented. The Nailed exhibit goes to Berlin, Germany on November 10th and will feature more European nail artists. For more information and to see more of Dzine's work, visit

What do you think of nail art as a museum-worthy exhibit? Would you be interested in showcasing your own nail art in an art gallery?
